You Know The Feeling
September 20, 2000
You know the feeling.
You've been working hard since seven in the morning, making calls, checking labs, phoning in prescriptions, trying to get your patients the care they deserve.
Or, you've been watching TV all day, hiding from the brutal realities of life - realities which, as is obvious even to an untrained observer, you are clearly no longer capable of handling.
You know the feeling, and you're tired of it.
Tired of the burden that a growing practice can place upon the delicate relationship between a husband and a wife - and between parents and their children.
Or, you're tired of the endless array of voices echoing throughout your cranium, calling out to you in a desperate plea for recognition, supporting and encouraging you all the while they belittle you and weave their bitter fabric of violence and hatred.
You know the feeling. And you know what? Believe it or not, you already know what you have to sdo.
You must learn to balance your personal life with your professional life, allowing the one to support the other, while never allowing the pursuit of passion or glory in either obfuscate the goals and ideals you have set for yourself and those you love.
Or, you must descend, descend into the murky depths of the inner darkness, forever searching for the golden amulet of Pertheus, which resides unscathed and unknowable in a tormented, shadowy, forbidden corner of your calloused soul.
Sincerely,
